Product Information

Scientific Name: Corydoras sterbai
Common Names: Sterbai Cory, Sterba's Cory

The Sterbai Cory is a beautiful and peaceful freshwater catfish recognized by its dark body covered in contrasting cream-white spots and warm orange coloration on the pectoral fins. Its intricate pattern and active bottom-dwelling behavior make it one of the most attractive Cory species for planted and community aquariums.

One of the Sterbai Cory's biggest advantages is its tolerance for warmer water. Compared with many commonly kept Corys, Sterbai are particularly well suited to warm tropical community setups and are a popular bottom-dwelling companion for fish such as Discus.

Care Level: Easy
Temperament: Peaceful
Adult Size: Approximately 2.5–3 inches
Minimum Tank Size: 20 gallons recommended
Temperature: Approximately 75–82°F
pH: Approximately 6.0–7.6
Diet: Omnivore
Recommended Group Size: 6 or more

Recommended Setup: Keep Sterbai Corys in a mature, well-filtered aquarium with plenty of bottom area. Fine sand or another smooth substrate is recommended to provide a comfortable surface for their natural foraging behavior. Plants, driftwood, rocks, shaded areas, and open areas along the substrate create an excellent environment.

Sterbai Corys are highly social and should be kept with others of their own kind. A group of at least 6 is recommended to encourage natural, confident social and foraging behavior.

Feed a varied diet of quality sinking pellets or wafers supplemented with appropriately sized frozen or live foods such as bloodworms, brine shrimp, and daphnia. Like other Corys, Sterbai should not be treated simply as cleanup fish and require regular feeding of their own.

Tankmates: Excellent for peaceful tropical community aquariums with compatible species such as tetras, rasboras, peaceful dwarf cichlids, Discus, and other non-aggressive fish that share similar water requirements.

Please Note: Size, coloration, markings, and sex naturally vary between individual fish. The fish you receive may differ slightly from the individual pictured.

Available Quantities: Individual fish and discounted group options are available. For their long-term social well-being, we recommend keeping Sterbai Corys in a group of at least 6.
