Product Information
Scientific Name: Trichopsis pumila
The Sparkling Gourami, also known as the Pygmy Gourami, is a small and peaceful freshwater fish prized for its shimmering blue-green iridescence, intricate patterning, and compact size. Under aquarium lighting, its reflective scales and fins produce a beautiful sparkling appearance, making this species an excellent centerpiece for planted nano and peaceful community aquariums.
Despite its small size, the Sparkling Gourami has fascinating behavior. Members of the Trichopsis genus can produce audible croaking or clicking sounds during social and territorial displays. As a labyrinth fish, it can also breathe atmospheric air from the water's surface. Sparkling Gouramis thrive in calm, densely planted aquariums with gentle water movement and plenty of cover. They should be kept with peaceful, similarly sized tank mates, as larger or highly active fish can intimidate or outcompete them.
