Snow White Socolofi Cichlid

Scientific Name: Chindongo socolofi “Albino”
Formerly: Pseudotropheus socolofi

The Snow White Socolofi is a striking albino variety of the Lake Malawi Socolofi Cichlid. Unlike the powder-blue coloration of the standard form, Snow White Socolofi display a white to pale pink body with distinctive red eyes, creating a bright contrast in an African cichlid aquarium.

Although generally considered one of the more manageable Mbuna, Snow White Socolofi are still territorial African cichlids. They should be maintained in a properly planned Mbuna aquarium with plenty of rockwork, caves, and visual barriers to help distribute aggression.

Recommended Setup: Provide a sand substrate with extensive rockwork arranged into caves, crevices, territories, and visual barriers. Strong filtration and stable, hard, alkaline water are important. Snow White Socolofi can be kept with appropriately selected Lake Malawi cichlids of similar size and temperament, but they should not be treated as peaceful community fish.

Their diet should contain substantial vegetable and algae-based material. Quality Mbuna pellets or flakes containing spirulina and similar plant ingredients make a good staple. Avoid routinely feeding excessively rich, high-protein foods.
