Product Information

Scientific Name: Corydoras panda
Common Names: Panda Cory, Panda Corydoras

The Panda Cory is one of the most recognizable and popular Corydoras catfish, named for its distinctive black markings around the eyes, dorsal fin, and base of the tail against a pale cream-colored body. Peaceful, active, and highly social, Panda Corys make excellent bottom-dwelling additions to planted and community aquariums.

Native to the upper Amazon River basin of Peru, Panda Corys naturally inhabit freshwater environments with clean water and soft substrates. They spend much of their time exploring the bottom of the aquarium in search of food and interacting with other members of their group.

Care Level: Easy
Temperament: Peaceful
Adult Size: Approximately 2–2.5 inches
Minimum Tank Size: 15–20 gallons
Temperature: Approximately 72–78°F
pH: Approximately 6.0–7.5
Diet: Omnivore
Recommended Group Size: 6 or more

Recommended Setup: Provide a well-filtered aquarium with a fine sand or smooth substrate, along with plants, driftwood, rocks, and shaded hiding areas. Corydoras have sensitive barbels around the mouth, so rough or sharp substrates should be avoided.

Panda Corys should be maintained in groups. A school of at least 6 encourages natural social behavior and creates a much more active and engaging display. They are peaceful fish and work well with many similarly sized community species.

Feed a varied diet of quality sinking pellets or wafers supplemented with frozen or live foods such as bloodworms, brine shrimp, and other appropriately sized foods. Panda Corys should not be expected to survive solely on leftover food from other fish and should receive their own complete diet.

Tankmates: Panda Corys are excellent community fish and can be kept with peaceful tetras, rasboras, dwarf cichlids, other compatible Corydoras, and similarly sized non-aggressive species.

Please Note: Size, coloration, markings, and sex naturally vary between individual fish. The fish you receive may differ slightly from the individual pictured.

Available Quantities: Individual fish and discounted group options are available. For their long-term social well-being, we recommend keeping Panda Corys in a group of at least 6.
