The Neon Tetra is one of the most recognizable and popular freshwater aquarium fish in the hobby. Its brilliant electric-blue stripe, silver body, and vivid red coloration create an unmistakable appearance that becomes even more impressive when a large school moves together through a planted aquarium.
Neon Tetras are peaceful, social schooling fish that are excellent additions to appropriately sized community aquariums. Although generally easy to care for once established, they do best in a mature, fully cycled aquarium with stable water conditions. Maintaining a proper school helps them feel secure, display stronger coloration, and exhibit their natural social behavior.

Recommended Setup: A mature planted aquarium with plenty of open swimming space is ideal. Live plants, driftwood, darker substrate, and areas of subdued lighting can make their electric-blue and red coloration stand out beautifully. Keep Neon Tetras with other small, peaceful community fish and maintain them in a substantial school. Feed a varied diet of quality micro pellets or finely sized flakes supplemented with small frozen or live foods such as brine shrimp and daphnia.
Please Note: Neon Tetras naturally vary in size, sex, and coloration. Recently transported or stressed fish may initially appear pale, with stronger blue and red coloration developing after they become comfortable in appropriate aquarium conditions. Male and female fish are selected at random, and a specific sex or ratio cannot be guaranteed. The fish you receive may not look exactly like the individual pictured.
