Hillstream Loach – Chinese Butterfly Pleco (Size M)

Scientific Name: Beaufortia kweichowensis

The Chinese Butterfly Hillstream Loach is a unique freshwater fish known for its flattened body, striking pattern, and ability to cling to rocks, glass, and other surfaces in fast-moving water. Despite sometimes being called a “Chinese Butterfly Pleco,” this species is actually a hillstream loach rather than a true pleco.

Hillstream Loaches thrive in clean, highly oxygenated aquariums with good water movement. They spend much of their time grazing across rocks, driftwood, glass, and other surfaces for algae and biofilm, making them both an interesting display fish and a useful addition to a well-established aquarium.
