Emerald Dwarf Rasbora

Scientific Name: Danio erythromicron

The Emerald Dwarf Rasbora, also known as the Emerald Dwarf Danio, is a small freshwater schooling fish known for its beautiful blue-green coloration, vertical barring, and reddish fins that become more pronounced as the fish matures. Its compact size and striking appearance make it an excellent choice for planted aquariums and peaceful nano community setups.

Emerald Dwarf Rasboras are peaceful but can be somewhat shy, especially when kept in groups that are too small. Maintaining a proper school helps them feel more secure and encourages more natural behavior and coloration. Unlike many soft-water rasboras, this species naturally comes from the Inle Lake region of Myanmar and does well in neutral to moderately alkaline, mineral-rich water.

Recommended Setup: A mature, well-filtered aquarium with plenty of live plants, areas of cover, and open swimming space. Moderate water hardness and stable neutral-to-alkaline conditions are preferred. Dense vegetation, driftwood, and other structure can help shy fish feel secure. Keep Emerald Dwarf Rasboras in a group of at least 8 whenever possible and pair them with similarly peaceful, appropriately sized tank mates. Feed a varied diet of quality micro pellets or finely crushed flakes supplemented with baby brine shrimp, daphnia, and other appropriately sized frozen or live foods.

Please Note: Emerald Dwarf Rasboras are typically sold as juveniles and may initially appear beige, pale, or translucent. Their characteristic blue-green coloration, vertical markings, and fin coloration become more pronounced as they mature and settle into appropriate aquarium conditions. Individual fish naturally vary in size, sex, coloration, markings, and overall appearance. Sex is not guaranteed. The fish you receive may not look exactly like the individual pictured.
