The Elephant Ear Betta, also commonly known as the Dumbo Betta, is a distinctive variety of Betta splendens known for its large, oversized pectoral fins that resemble a pair of elephant ears. Combined with the flowing finnage and vibrant coloration of male Bettas, these enlarged pectoral fins create a dramatic appearance as the fish swims.

Elephant Ear Bettas are available in a wide variety of colors and patterns, including combinations of blue, red, white, black, purple, and other shades. Each individual has its own unique appearance and personality.

Recommended Setup: Keep in a heated, filtered aquarium with gentle water movement. Live or soft artificial plants, smooth décor, hiding areas, and resting spots near the surface are recommended. Avoid sharp decorations that could damage the Betta's fins.

Because of their enlarged pectoral fins and potentially long finnage, Elephant Ear Bettas should not be kept in aquariums with excessively strong currents.

Feed a high-quality Betta pellet as the primary diet, supplemented with appropriately sized frozen or live foods such as brine shrimp, daphnia, and bloodworms.

Tankmates: Male Elephant Ear Bettas are territorial and should never be housed with another male Betta. Some individuals can live successfully with carefully selected peaceful tankmates in an appropriately sized aquarium, but temperament varies from fish to fish. Avoid aggressive or fin-nipping species.
