Product Information
Scientific Name: Poecilia sp. / Poecilia sphenops complex
The Dalmatian Lyretail Molly is a striking selectively bred livebearer known for its contrasting black-and-white spotted coloration and distinctive lyre-shaped tail. Each fish develops its own unique pattern of dark spots and patches, creating the Dalmatian appearance that makes this variety especially recognizable. The extended upper and lower portions of the tail add an elegant appearance compared with standard-fin mollies.
Dalmatian Lyretail Mollies are active, generally peaceful fish that work well in community aquariums with other species that appreciate similar water conditions. They thrive particularly well in hard, alkaline, mineral-rich water. Like other mollies, they are livebearers, meaning males and females kept together can readily reproduce and produce free-swimming fry.
