Scientific Name: Boraras brigittae
The Chili Rasbora is a tiny freshwater schooling fish prized for its intense red coloration and contrasting dark lateral stripe. Reaching less than an inch as an adult, this species is an excellent choice for mature planted and nano aquariums where its bright coloration stands out beautifully against green plants, driftwood, and darker backgrounds.
Chili Rasboras are extremely peaceful but should be maintained in a proper group to feel secure and display their best natural behavior and coloration. Their very small size makes them best suited for calm aquariums with other peaceful nano species. They prefer stable water conditions, gentle filtration, and plenty of plant cover and should not be housed with large or aggressive fish that may intimidate or prey upon them.

Recommended Setup: A mature, heavily planted aquarium with gentle filtration, low to moderate water movement, and plenty of cover. Driftwood, floating plants, leaf litter, and botanicals can provide shaded areas and create a more natural environment. Soft, slightly acidic water is preferred, although stable conditions are especially important. Feed appropriately sized foods such as finely crushed flakes, micro pellets, baby brine shrimp, cyclops, and other small frozen or live foods.

Juveniles and newly transported fish may display lighter coloration and can develop stronger red coloration once established under appropriate conditions.
