Product Information
Scientific Name: Corydoras aeneus
Common Names: Bronze Cory, Bronze Corydoras, Aeneus Cory
The Bronze Cory is a classic freshwater catfish and one of the most popular Corydoras species in the aquarium hobby. Known for its bronze-to-olive coloration, peaceful temperament, hardy nature, and active bottom-dwelling behavior, it is an excellent choice for both newer aquarists and established community aquariums.
Bronze Corys spend much of their time exploring the bottom of the aquarium, searching through the substrate for food and interacting with other members of their group. They are social fish and become much more confident and active when maintained with others of their own species.
Care Level: Easy
Temperament: Peaceful
Adult Size: Approximately 2.5–3 inches
Minimum Tank Size: 20 gallons recommended
Temperature: Approximately 72–79°F
pH: Approximately 6.5–7.8
Diet: Omnivore
Recommended Group Size: 6 or more
Recommended Setup: Provide a mature, well-filtered aquarium with plenty of usable bottom area. Fine sand or smooth gravel is preferred for comfortable foraging, along with plants, driftwood, rocks, shaded areas, and open substrate.
Bronze Corys are naturally social and should be maintained in a group. We recommend at least 6 of the same species to encourage confident, natural shoaling and foraging behavior.
Feed a varied diet consisting of quality sinking pellets or wafers supplemented with frozen or live foods such as bloodworms, brine shrimp, daphnia, and other appropriately sized foods.
Bronze Corys should not be treated solely as aquarium cleanup fish. Although they readily search the substrate for food, they require regular intentional feeding and a nutritionally complete diet.
Tankmates: Excellent for peaceful freshwater community aquariums alongside compatible tetras, rasboras, danios, peaceful livebearers, dwarf cichlids, and other similarly sized non-aggressive species.
Please Note: Natural coloration, markings, size, and sex may vary between individual fish. The fish you receive may differ slightly from the individual pictured.
Available Quantities: Individual fish and discounted group options are available. For their long-term social well-being, we recommend keeping Bronze Corys in a group of at least 6.
