The Blue Neon Rasbora is a tiny freshwater schooling fish prized for its brilliant blue-green iridescence and delicate appearance. Under subdued lighting and against darker backgrounds, these fish can display an impressive metallic glow that makes them especially striking in carefully maintained planted and blackwater aquariums.

Unlike many common rasboras, Blue Neon Rasboras require more specialized care. They naturally occur in extremely soft, acidic environments and are sensitive to unstable water conditions and harder, alkaline water. They should be maintained in a mature aquarium with a proper group of their own kind and are best suited for experienced aquarists who can provide consistently soft, acidic water.

Recommended Setup: A mature, stable aquarium with very soft, acidic water, gentle filtration, subdued lighting, and minimal water movement. Live plants, driftwood, leaf litter, botanicals, and other natural cover can help create the shaded blackwater-style environment this species prefers. Feed appropriately sized foods such as baby brine shrimp, daphnia, cyclops, microworms, and other tiny live or frozen foods, supplemented with high-quality micro foods when accepted. Avoid housing them with large, aggressive, or highly competitive tank mates.

Juvenile, stressed, or recently transported fish may display reduced coloration and can develop stronger iridescence once properly established. Male and female fish are selected at random, and a specific sex or ratio cannot be guaranteed. This is a sensitive species that requires stable, soft, acidic water conditions.
