Product Information
Scientific Name: Pomacea bridgesii
Common Name: Blue Mystery Snail
Blue Mystery Snails are a colorful freshwater Mystery Snail variety prized for their unusual slate-blue to steel-blue appearance. Their combination of a translucent shell and darker blue-gray body creates the characteristic blue coloration, which can become more pronounced as the snail matures.
These peaceful snails are active scavengers that spend their time exploring aquarium glass, substrate, plants, rocks, and driftwood. They consume biofilm, some soft algae, leftover foods, and decaying organic matter while generally leaving healthy aquarium plants alone.

Recommended Quantity: Approximately 1–2 per 10 gallons, depending on filtration and available food.
Recommended Setup: A mature, fully cycled freshwater aquarium with good filtration is ideal. Mystery Snails produce a noticeable bioload for their size, so adequate filtration and routine maintenance are important.
Mystery Snails regularly travel to the surface to breathe atmospheric air using their siphon. Keep the aquarium securely covered while leaving some space between the water surface and lid. Females also lay their egg clutches above the waterline.
Shell Health: Blue Mystery Snails benefit from neutral-to-alkaline, mineral-rich water. Calcium and adequate hardness are important for healthy shell development. Prolonged exposure to soft, acidic water can cause shell erosion and pitting.
Diet: Do not rely solely on algae. Supplement natural grazing with quality sinking foods, algae wafers, invertebrate foods, and blanched vegetables such as zucchini or spinach.
Compatibility: Blue Mystery Snails are peaceful and generally suitable for community aquariums with peaceful fish and freshwater shrimp. Avoid keeping them with Assassin Snails, puffers, aggressive snail-eating loaches, or other animals known to prey on snails.
Please Note: Individual Blue Mystery Snails naturally vary in shell shade, blue intensity, body coloration, and size. Aqua Huna selects males and females randomly and does not guarantee a particular sex.
