The Albino Tiger Barb is a colorful variety of the classic Tiger Barb, recognized for its bright golden-orange body, pale vertical banding, and vivid red-orange fins. It offers the same energetic schooling behavior and bold personality as the standard Tiger Barb but with a dramatically different appearance that stands out beautifully in planted and community aquariums.

Albino Tiger Barbs are the same species as standard and Green Tiger Barbs, meaning they share the same general care requirements and social behavior. They are highly active fish and should be maintained in groups rather than individually.

Recommended Setup: Provide a well-filtered aquarium with plenty of horizontal swimming space along with live plants, driftwood, rocks, and other structure. Open swimming areas are particularly important for these energetic schooling fish.

Feed a varied diet of high-quality flakes, appropriately sized pellets, and other prepared foods supplemented with frozen or live foods such as brine shrimp, daphnia, and bloodworms. Foods containing vegetable matter can also be incorporated into a balanced diet.

Behavior & Tankmates: Like other Tiger Barbs, Albino Tiger Barbs have a reputation for fin-nipping and can be particularly troublesome when kept in inadequate numbers. Maintaining a proper school helps distribute their social interactions among the group.

Avoid slow-moving or long-finned tankmates such as Bettas, fancy guppies, and long-finned angelfish. Albino Tiger Barbs are better suited to active community aquariums with similarly sized fish that can comfortably handle their energetic behavior.

Mixing Tiger Barb Varieties: Because Albino, Green, and standard Tiger Barbs are color varieties of the same species, they can be kept together and will generally recognize one another as part of the same social group. This can create an especially colorful mixed Tiger Barb display.
